    As a matter of fact...

It is currently Feb. 2, 2020 in the game. A draft pool has just been generated, but don't start doing research yet as it is not the final pool.

My intended schedule for the next three days:

    Tuesday: Sim one week, 2/2 - 2/8
    Wednesday: Sim two weeks, 2/9 - 2/22
    Thursday: Sim two weeks, 2/23 - 3/5

That will bring us to the draft date (3/5) and the beginning of Spring Training (3/6). It will also be the beginning of a nine-day vacation for me, during which I won't be online much if at all. And when I am online, I may not have access to OOTP.

So, during this time, we'll have a break from regular sims, and in the meantime the draft will have time to get through a few rounds. Once I get back (Monday, 7/30) I will enter whatever draft picks we have, finish out the draft, and put up the file for Spring Training on Tuesday. I'll sim all of ST on Thursday (8/2), and Opening Day will be Saturday. These dates are, of course, very tentative and subject to changes.

Additionally, Tavarin will act as the co-commissioner during this period, in particular handling any issues that come up with the draft.

I will have a final draft pool ready soon, and we'll be using OOTP Online Utilities for the draft.

Any questions, concerns or objections about any of this, feel free to let me know. Thanks!

File is up, reports are up, and the draft is ready. I'll open a separate thread for that.

Ok so I have been looking through all of my organizational data to see exactly where my Franchise is at heading into my first season as GM and I found something that might be an issue. The park factors for dodger stadium seem all wrong. In this game it looks like a hitter friendly park because it allows for a higher amount of home runs than a neutral park, which then leads to more runs, but as we all know and according to current data for park factors Dodger Stadium is a pretty dominant pitcher's park with only about 8-10 stadiums being more pitcher friendly. Is it realistic to ask that we change these or are we in a completely different "universe" than the real league?

When I load a new 2010 MLB game in OOTP 11, those are the park factors for Dodger Stadium. It's a little weird, though. The park factors IRL for Dodger stadium actually had HR inflated in 2010, but that's the only season. You can blame Markus, I guess. We usually do.

    I'm back!

I put the draft on auto-pilot for round 10, since those players generally have no impact on the big league squad. So we're through the draft in terms of the utility, and I will now be entering everyone's picks into the game. I'm currently about halfway through the sixth round, so this should be finished tomorrow, at which point I'll put up a file for Spring Training. I'll run ST on Thursday, and using that file, you will be able to set your 25-man rosters for the Opening Day sim, which will be Sunday Night. After that, we will return to the usual sim schedule, which is Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday at about 10PM.

Finally, a big thanks to Tavarin for all of his help with the draft!

File up, reports up. Please have your Spring Training exports in by Thursday at 10 PM. You can have all of your 40-man roster in the active section for ST, but after Thursday's sim you will have to cut to 25 men. Thanks!

Twins exported. What do I do about possible roster cuts that don't have options left? Do I have to put them on waivers now or is there a mini sim to take care of that after st?

  14. #164

    Re: 2020 SCMLB Offseason Thread

You can do that now or wait until spring training is over, whenever you feel like it. You might need someone in case of injuries or whatever. Usually the sim after spring training the waiver list is gigantic.

    Re: 2020 SCMLB Offseason Thread

At the end of ST, you can waive and Designate For Assignment any players who are out of options (they'll be in the DFA section instead of on your main roster). Once they've cleared waivers (after the first two regular season sims), you can assign them to a minor league affiliate. I would not suggest putting them on waivers during ST.

    Does that answer your question?

When I was playing my own game I didn't think it let me dfa them, which was why I asked. If that works then it's no problem.

Rays exported 29/40. All signs point to 2021 being our year of resurrection, but I'm getting anxious...some of our young arms have progressed pretty quickly...

I think you have to waive first, then DFA. If you find that you have any problems, let me know and we'll get it sorted out.
