    Question VL Discussion

Let's face it, this league is done. Anymore I get one or two exports per sim. People don't post anything anymore and there is pretty much zero interaction during the season. Having to PM people just to get them to do something during the off season or draft is getting old and it's getting worse each season.

So I am killing the VL...sorry Daren.

My question is that if I started a completely new fictional league would that spark your interest again?

Rest in peace, VL. You've had quite a run but I do think its time has passed. I would definitely be up for a new fictional league. I'm wondering what unique twist could set it apart from the RSL.

    RIP John Elmore/Randy Moss

I don't have time for another league at the moment, really. I'm in enough leagues as is, so I'd sit out a new fictional league (especially since I'm already in one, the RSL).

''It seems like they can't do anything wrong here,'' Buehrle said of the Twins, after admitting that the Sox do flinch a bit coming to the dome. ''[Manager Ozzie Guillen] calls them 'piranhas,' but I call them 's---heads.' I would tell you what I really call them, but I know you couldn't print it. They get on base, bunt, steal, bloop singles -- it's [bleep]ing annoying.''

I may be the only one against this, as my team is probably best-positioned for the future.

Still, I can't believe we never brought home the championship in this league, even when we had so few teams. We had so many good years, and got so close on multiple occasions - this was perhaps my most consistently good team. I always thought my year would come, but it looks like it never did. Oh well, it was fun.

Thanks for all the time you put into it, Scott and Ryan, it was a good run. That said, I'll probably stick to the PBU/TCBA/SCMLB for a while, four might be too many right now.

On a more serious note, I have some ideas that could make it interesting:

-USFL style independent league, with only enough money to sign fringe MLB talent (I had a league like that going recently and I bet we can bring back some of those owners)
-Promotion/relegation (I bet we'd snag some OTBL soccer dorks with that
-Along the lines of a future league, we could have a super juiced league, where batters hit twice as many homers and .400 is the new .300
-A world league with a different league and appropriate player creation modifiers for each continent/region

Actually, I would be interested in doing a fictional league set in a foreign country - like the Mexican league, or Cuban league, something like that

Or maybe a broader Carribean-basin league (historical? - we could feature the lost great Latin players of the past century who were also excluded by MLB), with teams/players from Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, D.R., Venezuela, Curacao... Actually this league is starting to sound awesome enough to me that I could volunteer to run it.

Or a Latin league where each country has its own team and no ferners are allowed.

Yeah Scott, that would last about two months before the CIA installed a military dictatorship in the commissioner's office.

Thanks Ryan for all the hard work you put into the league as well to the other GMs. It was a tough haul for the North Stars over the past couple of seasons, but at least 2020 was fun.

Personally, I'm going to have step back from joining a new league at the moment. I'm having a tough time of late reengaging myself in the PBU and SC MLB. I just don't have the energy of late to write articles or to take a more than cursury look at my rosters and such. Hopefully things will settle down for me and I can get rolling again.

    Re: VL Discussion

Thanks for everything Ryan -- I think you made the right call though; it was time.

Currently, SC has four other leagues with decent-good activity levels; one is just starting up. And the VL was barely supporting eight owners. Personally, I'm pretty tied up with things and the thought of having only one team is a bit of a relief right now.

Eventually, there will inevitably be a new league. There always is, sometimes it's a hit, and sometimes it's the League of Gentlemen. But I think it might be time for SC to sit comfortably with four leagues for a while, and nurture the ones we have before going off and spawning a new one. Just because a woman can theoretically give birth every nine months doesn't mean she shouI should have quit while I was ahead yeah.
