The working class and the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life.
Between these two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the Earth.
It is the historic mission of the working class to do away with capitalism. The army of production must be organized, not only for everyday struggle with capitalists, but also to carry on production when capitalism shall have been overthrown. By organizing industrially we are forming the structure of the new society within the shell of the old.
A clinched playoff spot! Sound the confetti! Toss some horns!![]()

Hmmm, so. I resigned Ryan Rieger to a contract with the idea of declining next year's option. So if I do that, does his five year (which is really just a four year and a mutual option) move up a year, meaning his new contract expires in 2035 instead?
Also, FYI, Rieger will be on the block in the offseason. Can't wait to see what he could do in a better park.![]()

3-3 sim for the Angels as we lose 2/3 to the Rays before taking 2/3 from the A's.
This means we're 5 back of the AL West with 6 to play, but with 3 head to head against the Rangers, there's still technically a chance.
More realisticaly is the Wild Card, where we are 3.5 up on the White Sox, with a magic number of 4. Should be an interesting final sim on Monday.

6-0 sim against the Astros and Cards was a most pleasant surprise.
We're now 5 up on Houston for the WC with a magic number of 3 with 7 games left to play.
SP Rivera got a rough initiation in his first ML outing, unable to get out of the first inning (5 ER in 0.1 innings). He bounced back with a much better 7-inning performance against St. Louis, striking out 10 and giving up just a couple of runs. I think he'll be a keeper.

''It seems like they can't do anything wrong here,'' Buehrle said of the Twins, after admitting that the Sox do flinch a bit coming to the dome. ''[Manager Ozzie Guillen] calls them 'piranhas,' but I call them 's---heads.' I would tell you what I really call them, but I know you couldn't print it. They get on base, bunt, steal, bloop singles -- it's [bleep]ing annoying.''
Remember those 1-run wins we had last week? Yep, you guessed it...
Speaking of which, Cincinnati is now 28-34 in 1-run games, for a total of 62 - highest in the majors.
We'll need to go 6-0 in the final week to break .500, and 5-1 just to get to 81 wins.
We've been very mediocre for quite some time, but we clinched our 3rd division title with a 4-3 sim. Very excited to give it another go at winning a playoff series.

4-2 sim with series wins over the Cards and Dodgers. We're @ 101 wins, and we've won our third consecutive NL Central crown.
Chewing on my fingernails hoping I can lock Marquez down to an extension that will not kill my team's future- very nervous about these developments. But he's been amazing again this year when we needed him, and I feel like I owe it to our fans to try and make sure he will be mashing HR's onto Waveland/Sheffield avenues for years to come.
11.4.2008: I have never been prouder to be an American.
See, that's my question. I assumed that if I have a player who is going INTO his mutual option year and I extend him, then the extension replaces the mutual option year (effectively declining the option). This is what happens in real life, and I assumed this is how the mechanics of OOTP worked.
However, if all I managed to do was effectively ACCEPT his mutual option year and the extension kicks in after that - meaning that next season will be the last year of his NTC contract instead of the first year of his new contract - well, then I'm just annoyed. If that were the case, I would have declined his option and tried my hand at resigning him before free agency, which is what I had intended to do all along.

The Tribe goes 4-3 as we take a 4 game set from Detroit but then lose a disappointing 3 game series to the Yankees. 2.5 games up heading into the last sim, we've got a magic number of 5 and two 3 game sets to close out the season. We take on Toronto and their 2-4 starters, followed by Oakland and the top of their rotation.
Oakland has had our number this year (6-3 against us) while we've been about even with Toronto (4-6 against us). Meanwhile, Chicago gets 4 at home against Baltimore and then closes out the year with 3 in Seattle. Neither of us is playing particularly difficult teams, though I'll be taking on a Toronto team that is also fighting for its postseason life. We're obviously in a better position, up 2.5 with one less game to play in the final week, but I'm not exactly resting easy.
Our fate is in our hands. Let's just go 6-0 to finish the year and not leave anything in the hands of the White Sox. Sure would be nice to hoist up a division title for the first time in the CL.
Good luck, Alex.

Nice 4-2 sim for the Angels as we take 2/3 each from Texas and Detroit. We end 3 games back of the Rangers for the AL West crown, but win the AL Wild Card by 5 games over the White Sox.

Pffft. Brewers collapse in the final week, going 1-6, but manage to hang on to the wild card by one game over Houston. Way to go, boys. 4 and out in the 1st round, here we come.![]()
SCMLB - Cincinnati Reds
A 3-3 sim to end things featuring, fittingly, three one-run losses. We played in 66 one-run games this year, most in the majors. We lost 37 of them, also most in the majors. Not a fun year in Cincy - probably the most disappointing and frustrating in my CL career.
Still, I like our rotation going into next year especially if we can find a solid arm on the FA market to replace Peterson (good riddance you bum). Our super-young bullpen will be a year older and maybe aided by a free agent or two, and we've got the salary room to add a big bat if we can. I don't think we're very far off.
A bizarre season in the NL, as only the Cubs win more than 91 games!Congratulations to the playoff teams, it's always an accomplishment to make it that far.

Pathetic showing in the final week keeps us below the 90 win mark for the first time in a decade. I'm looking forward to blowing this team up and starting anew, assuming anyone even bothers to inquire about players.

Third division title for le' Expos since I've been throwing my weight around. It's certainly the least impressive of the three, but maybe we'll finally be able to win a playoff series and make this season something special!
