    2016 Trade Thread

    Baltimore receives:

    MR George Long
    MR Anibal Cabrera
    Toronto 2016 R2 Pick

    Toronto receives:

    3B Mark Henderson

Thanks for the deal jada. I don't really like losing Henderson but it became apparent that he would be easier to move than Blackwell and with those 2 and Luzuriaga, the infield was a bit crowded and I had to use one to bring back bullpen help being how poorly the pen performed this past season.

    Re: 2016 Trade Thread

Confirmed. We had an awesome bullpen last season, and Cabrera/Long are poised to be a terrific late inning lefty/righty combo for years to come. We'll miss them. But we couldn't turn down a chance to acquire such a highly regarded prospect. It s true that Henderson has seen his OPS shrink for 3 years in a row, but he's young still... and my batting coach tells me he'll have that glitch in his swing worked out in 15 minutes.

This move means Kim will shift to 1B from 3B, where he's an extremely strong defender. Which of course signals the end of the Homer Hanson era...

    Thanks Madness!

    Re: 2016 Trade Thread

In what media analysts are hailing as "a positive step towards peace in the Middle East Rising Star League", the San Francisco Reds and the Philadelphia Spectres have reached the following accord:

    San Francisco sends:
    AAA C Rodrigo Rivera

    Philadelphia sends:
ML CL Sam "The Lawbringer" Lawrence

    -----

I know I'm overpaying here, and many will think I'm insane (and I might be), but The Lawbringer is in a contract year and, though he's not asking for the world, moving in the direction of a cheaper, more cost-effective bullpen is probably in my best interest.

That said, I don't think I'm overpaying by too much. Rodrigo plays fantastic defense at the most difficult position, defensively, and he's got a bat that should serve him well when it's developed. He should be up sometime through this season, and I guess we'll see how he does.

Good luck finishing up your inevitable stranglehold on the Hubble Division, Alex.

    Confirmed.

The Lawbringer is not only the best nickname in the game, but he's got one of the better mustaches as well. He's an elite arm who will look nice at the end of my bullpen, and is a great first step toward taking over the Hubble. I liked Rivera and held off trading him for a long time, but with McCauley waiting in the wings, Rivera was fairly expendable.

Nice working with you, Joe. Glad to see we could put aside our differences and make a mutually beneficial trade

Denver and Norfolk/Vancouver have agreed to a trade:

    Denver sends:
    C Victor Hernandez

    Norfolk/Vancouver sends:
    2016 3rd round pick

Sign and trade deal. Hernandez wants more than I'm willing to pay him, Norfolk is willing to pay what he is asking. I'd rather not trade him within the division, but I'd just as soon get something for him rather than let him move to a division rival and have nothing to show for it.

Denver confirms. Gordon is a nice backup, but the AI kept pissing me off by using him as a pinch hitter. Problem solved (assuming Wise doesn't get hurt)

Norfolk (Vancouver?) and Philadelphia have reached the following accord:

    Norfolk (Vancouver?) sends:
    ML OF Anthony White
    AA OF Ken Blue

    Philadelphia sends:
    2016 3rd Round Draft Pick

I figure Ken is better talent than will be available at the third, and probably will be ready for the bigs in the next two seasons. White has a pretty sizable salary for what he's likely to return, but it's not backbreaking - worst case he rots in AAA, sipping mojitos and winning meaningless championships.

Thanks for the easy deal, Kit.

    San Francisco sends:
    "RF" Nick Harris

    Baltimore sends:
    SP Alfredo Martinez (RL)
    2016 4th round pick (BAL)

I didn't want to pay Harris his 8.5 million this upcoming year, but instead of just declining my option with him, I figured I should at least get something back. It's not much, but it's more than I would have gotten if I had let him walk to FA.

    Easy deal, Madness. Good luck

    Confirmed.

Harris can't field, has no plate discipline, strikes out too much and probably isn't worth the 8.5 million (in the contract I originally signed him to), but we lost Bunch and don't have enough money to go after any free agents and I can't afford to throw a complete scrub in my starting lineup if I hope to reclaim the division crown this season. Harris should hit close to .300 and could hit as many as 30 homers in my righty-friendly park so welcome back to the squad.

    *nod*

There was a chance Combs would make it to the 10th pick, but I didn't want to take the risk. I'd rather lose a fourth and guarantee I add some extra pitching depth than missing out on the "top tier" of pitchers in this draft and adding another outfielder.

Easy deal, Prf. Looking forward to battling with you for the next decade or so.

    Re: 2016 Trade Thread

    San Francisco sends:
    RF Bill Christensen (AAA)

    Pittsburgh sends:
    3B Lou Dalley (AAA)
    MR Ghedi Wambukawo (AAA)

As much as I like Christensen, I have a plethora of outfielders in my system (Odene Hill, Leon Lazaro, Logan Sotolo) who have a higher ceiling, making Christensen expendable. Dalley, on the other hand, fills a major need a third base and plays fantastic defense, something required for anyone on my team. There's a good chance he'll end up my opening day starter at third, and he should be a staple there for a long time to come. Wambukawo is also a solid piece, and he should be good alongside Lawrence, Yun and Munoz in my bullpen.

Nice working with you Matt. I hate giving up Christensen, but I'm glad that he'll at least be taken care of in Pittsburgh

    San Francisco sends:
    "IF" Brian Tanner
    $5 million

    Vancouver sends:
    SS Dan Davis

Our busy night continues with the trading of Brian Tanner, who no longer fits the defensive requirements for the middle infield in San Francisco. If you get old and start sucking defensively, you get traded. Let this be a lesson to Jose Herrera. Hopefully Davis remembers how to hit with the Reds. I think he'll enjoy our ballpark, and his defense and baserunning abilities make him a prime candidate to be the everyday shortstop for the foreseeable future.

Tanner still plays the middle positons quite well... and I was in need of a natural lead off hitter, which Tanner provides. He'll do quite well hitting in front of my great hitters I imagine.

Confirmed. It's a shame Cunningham was the third lefty out of my pen. I like him, but I just don't have room for him. My second next year will probably be a better pick, but there are a few more guys that I'd love to get on my team and I'd rather take them this year than wait to see what's around next year.
