    2020 Trade Thread

I hope its not too early to start one of these?

Tampa Bay gets: CINCY 1st Round (2020), SEA 2nd Round (2020)
    Seattle gets: Brandon Rice (AAA)

Between Rice and Almonte, I've actually got two very young relievers (instead of the old scrubs I usually pick up). How delightful.

Don't just go throwing my draft picks around all willy-nilly.

Minnesota and Seattle have struck a deal.

Minneosta gets: SEA 1st Round, Hunter Pace (R), Andy Underwood (AAA)
    Seattle gets: Sean Gallagher (MLB)

I had planned to bid on Gallagher, but now I get him without the inflated FA price! And all it cost me was another year where I said, "Um, I'll draft prospects NEXT year." Hooray!

Chicago (A) and Seattle have strucked a trader.

    Seattle gets: Marcus Townsend (MLB)
    Chicago gets: Francisco Liriano (MLB)

Alex and I had talked about this trade earlier in the season. I actually traded for Gallagher to replace Liriano.

The idea is, Gallagher + Townsend > Drennen + Liriano. The combination of Safeco and my defense should bring Gallagher's numbers down (the same way it turned Brooks back into an All-Star quality player).

    Confirmed.

Its a tough deal to look at. Honestly, I dont even have enough money to make a big for Gallagher and he was going to walk. McExpos was the first to make an offer, we discussed a few things, and struck a deal. We get a solid prospect in Pace and a pitcher that could help us in Underwood. The 1st round pick is also very nice and helps our rebuilding efforts.

Its a sad say watching Gallagher leave the organization. He was one of the prospects I was very excited about drafting and watching him move through the organization and turn into a very good pitcher then having to deal him....is very tough. But its business.

Anyway, lets get this over with.

Did we change the "both teams must include a player" rule in the CL? I don't see it in the official rules thread anymore, and I do remember discussions of eliminating the rule. I don't remember for sure though.

I thought we'd eliminated it. However, if its still necessary, then Ryan and I can pick out some numbn... some talented minor leaguer to exchange.

As far as I know, the rule was in place because you had to have players on both sides in previous versions of OOTP.

Thanks Mike. I wasn't trying to be difficult; I couldn't remember if we had axed it or not.

Well, the rule required a non-scrub from each side, but I know that was part of the reason. Doesn't much bother me either way.

    Re: 2020 Trade Thread

Never too early to start the Offseason.

The Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Sox have come to terms on the following agreement:

    Cincinnati Gets:
    3B Josh Horton

    Chicago Gets:
    MR Austin Wood

Obviously, I'm in the postseason, but the trade is being posted now to get it out of the way instead of holding off until later. Additionally, this will be a sign-and-trade deal since Horton's contract is up at the conclusion of this season. Therefore, as long as its kosher with the rest of the league, I will be handling the contract extension offers and submitting them through Felix.

    Re: 2020 Trade Thread

    Confirmed.

My team was below .500 in one-run games last year, and I've got to believe that it had something to do with one of the worst bullpens in the AL. Wood will replace Adam Loewen (R.I.P.), and hopefully with a full year of Samuel Brown, Beau Jones, and now Austin Wood (and Kyle Weiland pitching like he did in April, August and September) my bullpen can become something to be feared.

Is there a race on to see who can complete more trades for next season before this season's playoffs begin?

I'm looking forward to a quiet offseason...

    Especially the draft, eh?
The working class and the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life.

Between these two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the Earth.

It is the historic mission of the working class to do away with capitalism. The army of production must be organized, not only for everyday struggle with capitalists, but also to carry on production when capitalism shall have been overthrown. By organizing industrially we are forming the structure of the new society within the shell of the old.

My teams don't know the meaning of "quiet offseason." I don't think I've had one since joining the league, and I wouldn't have it any other way

Minnesota and Philadelphia have agreed on a trade....

    Minnesota Gets:
    Carlos Ruiz, C - AA
    Norihito Kaneto, LHP - A

    Philadelphia Gets:
    Chris Dennis, RHP

Its tough letting Chris Dennis leave Minnesota at such a price but this is what I get for mismanagement of my finances. We wish Chris the best of luck and hopefully these prospects turn into something decent.
