    The Willamette Wonder Dogs

"Now Arthur knew this dog and he knew it well. It belonged to an advertising friend of his, and was called Know-Nothing-Bozo the Non-Wonder Dog because the way its hair stood up on end reminded people of the President of the United States of America."

--So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish

Owner Scott Jeffries and general manager Josh Octones are the original odd couple. Notoriously opposed politically and yet at times the best of friends.

"We are friends and partners first," says Jeffries

    "Business partners," corrects Octones.

Welcome to the front office of the Willamette Wonder Dogs, affectionately known as the Know-Nothings or the Bozos.

"We're a political bunch for sure," says Jeffries. "Lots of shouting matches. But we have some of the best baseball minds around in this office and that's what matters. I wanted a name that would put all of us at ease, deflate all our egos and make us remember what's important here."

The Know-Nothings are also a defunct political party of the Civil War era. Yes, they called themselves that.

But don't be fooled. This front office is not full of know-nothings. The owner, general manager and field manager all took their Major League teams to the playoffs in 2007 with 294 wins between them.

In a statement made earlier today, GM Josh Edem had this to say:

"I just want to reaffirm that people understand that my relationship with Scott is as a business partner. We are good friends when not talking about or political or religious beliefs. We share the love of baseball and sports in general."

When asked about what it is like to work for an openly homosexual owner, he declined to comment.

Different, or crazy lifestyles don't make for bad chemistry. We can be a band of idiots like the World Champion Red Sox. And, like the Red Sox, use it to our advantage and thrive on it. We are so gonna be the Yankees of this league. One word: Domination

EDIT: As I re-read my post, I realize we have the best of both worlds. We will be the Red Sox, and the Yankees. Thats, what, like a $300 Million dollar payroll...

    Re: The Willamette Wonder Dogs

I have been thinking about something for a while now. I am of so little importance to this team, and all the excitement I had over this league has faded with all the time gone by since we started (plus one day after buying OOTP 6, and playing around with it, I already was sick of it... I hate text based games).

I just think I am not needed in any way shape or form, so I am stepping down as Minor league manager.

I still feel as though this is my team, my franchise, and will be supporting this team 100%.

    Thanks for the opportunity Scott.

Well, sorry to lose you. Hope you didn't feel muscled out. Once things get going if you want to help out in any way just let me know.

    Thanks Scott.

It may have been just that (the downtime between starting the franchise development, and the draft). Once things get going, I may find that spark again.

I just figured Ryan could handle the Minor league lineups, no problem. As the scout, he'll know the players better anyway...

    Good luck guys.
