    Ratings System

It's time to vote on the main ratings scale. For simplicity's sake, we're using the same scale for talent and ratings unless someone (Mak?) objects. It's how every vote turns out anyway and it will just make voting easier.

Let me say this one more time and then I'll shut up and deal with whatever scale is chosen:

The 1-10 scale has no midpoint. On that scale there is no such thing as an average player. A rating of 5 is subpar but a rating of 6 is better than average. In terms of evaluating talent it just doesn't make sense to me as a semi-mathematician. 2-8 does have a midpoint, and while it may seem like an odd scale, it is chosen because the midpoint is 5. On a 2-8 scale, a player who is rated a 5 is truly average.

Of course, there's also a 1-5 scale, which I use in the 1927 league, where a 3 rating is average.

Either way, 1-5 or 2-8 is what *I* would urge people to vote.

And if you vote one or the other, I'll give you underwear and food like Michael Moore!

But see, that's the challenge with 1-10, there is no midpoint so you don't know whether the guy is below average, average, or slightly above average. Plus we use it in all the other leagues, so it makes it easier.

It's tough. If we're using real guys, I can see scrutinizing it a little and making it harder to see how they imported and where they stand, but with ficitional guys, I'd need 1-100 just to figure them out since I have absolutely nothing to go by.

You know, I'll just take the midpoints and underwear for myself. But when you guys want a midpoint and/or a pair of underwear, you can look elsewhere.

    Fair enough

Edit: Although I am running a little low on good clean pairs of underwear. You know, without holes, and skid marks...
What I thought was beautiful don't live inside of you, anymore.

    It's been a blast.

I went 1-5, Scott got me to like this rating just because of the challenge.

I voted 2-8. Something different and Scott's points make sense to me.

I'm glad I could at least have an influence on a few people, but 1-10 is the winner.

Social change comes gradually, small steps at a time. I view this as a victory for 2-8. 2-8 will have its day.
