Angry Someting that just annoyed me...

For the first time in a while HH2k2 has done something that just annoyed the you-know-what out of me.

I was playing a three game series with Pittsburgh (@Home vs Houston). In each of the games, I had the same problem.

Each time a get a runner on first or third, regardless of how many outs, each time Houston's pitcher threw a pitch to the batter, a quick snap throw would almost immediately follow regardless of the count, or if it was a ball or strike. There was one instance when I had a runner on third with two out, and a 2-2 count and that I swung at strike three. It was a dropped strike three and rather instead of throwing the ball to first, the catcher quick snapped a throw to third, picking my man off of third.

I would have swept the series but I lost the middle game with the tie run at third with one out when that happened.

Still I had too many pickoff throws from the catcher instead of the pitcher with runners on base.

Oh, and BTW, can anyone tell me how you can quick snap a throw to second, in a blink of an eye and pick a runner off. It doesn't happen often in real baseball, and it shouldn't happen as often as it did in the game in this series.

Should I chalk this up to as just another chink in the HH2K2 armor or what?

Can I get an AMEN from the congregation...?

    To SECOND?

You can't snap throw a ball to second ... at least not from the catcher. The game doesn't let you do it. First and third, yes, all you have to do is (assuming you have manual throwing), move the D-pad in the correct direction and press the throw button almost immediatly after the ball crosses the plate.

This is what annoys me in the game. Both you and I know that it can't be done, but I'm tellin' ya... the CPU did it to me twice! And the second time it happened he got me out. All in a blink of an eye. I get a call strike on a 3-0 pitch, then the screen shot shows my runner at second about three feet off the bag and the second baseman with the ball reaching to tag him out. Wow! Did I miss something? Did I blink? That's what annoys me in the game. Just when you think you have seen it all, up comes another one. Whew!

I've never ever had the cathcer snap throw to 1st or 3rd ever, i thought it was a feature that the CPU never used.

In the player edit screen, check out that catcher's attributes. He probably has some outrageous number under "throwing power." Lower it to a level comparable to other pitchers.

You know what. That worked. Some guy the Astros brought up had a throwing arm of 6352.0. I just move the decimal place over so that it will read 6.3520. Thanks for the heads up Wallbanger!
