I'd like to see the old stadiums like in the previous versions... I think they rushed this game out... No old stadiums, no team editor, no mouse support, the uniform colors are horrible, and the list goes on & on...

These are all great ideas, here is my 'wish-list' (most of which are repetitions of previous ideas):
- broken bats
- interactive crowd
- hire/fire managers
- manager style effects team play
- player collisions
- some text or something on mound visits (anyone remember Earl Weaver Baseball?)
- bring back in-game saves
- bring back mouse support
- bring back spreadsheet style stats
Sometimes I think we should change this thread to read "What we should keep from past versions", because it seems they drop stuff to add stuff every year.
I am a bit of a stats freak, and I loved the spreadsheet style stats from 2K1 and 2K2 (didn't buy 2K3), and navigating these menus without a mouse is difficult.

wait a minute...
I just described HH2K2/HH2K3...
never mind.
Okay..here goes...
I have mentioned some of these before...but after playing HH2004 and seeing just how good this game would be if 3do would put some extra attention in the new version ...HH'05
First and foremost...is manage only.. that said
1a. Improved CPU AI
2. Custom seasons(a must for old time leagues!)
3. Go for a more dynamic feel of "Baseball" ie., I have been playing ASB2004 on the XBox...First game of the season at Shea and there are red, white and blue banners for opening day, the players are blowing smoke(from the cold), the scoreboard not only relflects the current score of this game...and the balls and strikes...but the out of town scores on the scoreboard are also correct!! I feel like there is a league out there!...I am not alone!
Early game at Wrigley...the outfield ivy is BROWN.....Went back there in the summer...GREEN!! Nice touch!....the dome in Arizona is sometimes closed..sometimes open...same at the skydome.
The World Series has different stadium graphics...banners...and such..it does not feel like a regular season game.
4. How about an ESPN style ticker at the bottom of the screen reflecting the days scores and highlights...on the same note...I would love it if the game broke away and showed you a highlight of say a no hitter in progress or a highlight of a game that involves a team you are in the pennant chase with...
3do will have a winner if they include these things(at least some) in HH205
Heres hoping!

I will not bore you with a plethora of BS and wishes, save only one: put back into HH 2005 everything that is in HH 2003. If you do only that, you will have a great game. We need mouse control, online play, custom teams, etc., etc., etc..
How about some defense AI that has the correct infielder covering second base on a steal? It would be nice if the shortstop covered second base with a left handed hitter up, for instance. (I hope I don't have to explain why.)
Bill
I just thought of something that I haven't seen posted anywhere. How about scalabel windows? This would be useful so that other windows could be open on the desktop allowing multitasking.
Well i already point out my suggestions to M. Saperstein, but let's make this more official:
- An interface that ressemble the old one, meaning a spreadsheets style, with a newspapers kind of design and looks.
- Collision between players.
- The AI should be able to charge the mount by itself.
- Real time lighting stadium. I like the shadow in the stadium but it would be fantastic to have the lights and shadows move into the stadium, and even the light changing colors influencing the color rendering etc... This should be toggle on/off options, but for those who have a good video card it would be a great visual asset.
- Better clouds. Your clouds are still too much fuzzy and unspectacular, unattractive. So they needs to be sharp pictures even from far away. And clouds can be one of the most beautiful sight in nature, yet we never see this in HH, and it's a shame...You need cumulus, cirrus, and all the "...us" clouds you can think of...
- I like to see the wind. Dust flying off. Closes that could flap. Paper and debris flying off from far away.
- I like to see flies at certain times of the year, at night in open stadiums.
- Water spots when it's raining, with splashes. Water sliding/falling animations and physic for the players when it is raining. Rain drops splash on the ground. Water droplets on the helmets when it's raining.
Lots of graphical details that would enhance the visual realism. I could talk about the franchise but since i made HHFO, it would be a two page list, but to sum it up i'll put the list of HHFO features:
- Maximum of 3 on 3 trades
- Sign your players with a financial system
- Salary cap with a maximum and minimum for each level
- Debt carrying from season to season.
- Money redistribution at the beginning of the year
- Penalty system during season for team's budget health
- Arbitration for ML players between 25 and 27 years of age.
- Counter proposition system when you try to negotiate
- Release your player option (But pay part of it's salary)
- View the league's contracts, how much a team has been penalised, the trades and the team's budget.
- In season, computer sign and release players, depending on budget performance.
- .ini file for adjusting certain parameters, like number of trade offered in a day simulate, etc...
- System that award budget points depending on your team performance.
Well, that's all folks.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I figured I should throw it into the discussion. What I've always wanted to see from HH -- and most sports games, really -- is a real feeling of continuity when you play a season. I want not only to hear the announcer talk about streaks, but also to see graphics like you would see in a real MLB game, like ".423 in last 10 games" or "0 for his last 24." This goes for human-controlled teams and my opponents. Similarly, I want to feel as though other games are going on at the same time as mine. I should NOT be able to sim a 7;00 game and then play my own. The simming should take place during my game (this can't be TOO hard, can it?), and every so often we should see scores. Highlights would be awesome (a la the old NHL games on genesis), but scores and a couple of pertinent stats, like on an ESPN bottom line type thing, would really be enough.
Along the same lines, the crowd and announcers should respond better to big games and, especially, playoff games. As it is, playing a season feels a lot like playing a bunch of exhibition games in a row and having the game keep track of stats. A season should be more than that.
Dubeau and Ezorn;
Thanks for the suggestions. That is exactly what the design team wants to see.![]()

"Mr. Corleone is a man who insists on hearing bad news immediately."
These may have been said already, but....
What I'd like to see:
A renewed stat system. With numerous splits (month, week, etc.), and in a spreadsheet format. Hardball 5 had the best stat engine of any baseball game I've played, I'd love to see it in HH.
Continue to improve the stadiums, add real-time scoreboards.
New announcers, I'm tired of the old guys.
A complete rehaul of the interface - return to the old form, no more kiddie menus.
Redo the saving/loading season function so that it does it in-game rather than punching you back to windows.
Revive the old bullpen screen, with warmup status and "due up" sections.
Put real players in the minors.
What I DON'T want to see:
Another console version port.
!!! CUSTOM LEAGUES !!!
You had them before. Why get rid of them!?
It would be like Magnavox deciding, "Well, nobody thanked us for color last year, so they probably won't notice if we get rid of it. All our TVs are going back to black & white."
How about converted rosters or user rosters that actually work
Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
I just dl jackkaspers 2.55 and that works, no crashes. I also dl HomerSimpson's; I haven't tried that set yet, but I understand that doesn't crash. And I dl SerialMike's roster from his site, need to try that one though.
I really don't think 3DO is responsible for ensuring that custom made or roster mods work. They have to worry if there custom roster works.

One of the biggest things I would REALLY Love to see in HH2005 is a small, minor thing. But in reality, it's kinda a big change. I would absolutely LOVE to see them add a way to change and update player's photos in the game. I think this could be a major improvement in my enjoyment of the game, mainly because it's, well, kinda impossible for them to always make the rosters are 100% perfect, and I like changing the old photos for player that have been traded with new ones, plus I like to put myself in there as well.Just adding a folder for avatars/photos and adding a option to change player's photo's would really make me happy. All you have to do is add a note in the manual and text file on what format to use and the proper size, along with what the background color is, and maybe a blank background to add the cut out photo's to.

Here some other things I still think would be neat to inlcude in next years version, after playing about 10 games so far.
1. Mouse and Keyboard support. This really needs to be in next years PC version, to the exclusion of other neat things, if need be.
2. Colors. Every year I find the colors in HH to be a bit drab. I mean the Phillies wear red uniforms. The 'so called' red color in this version look more like those Uniforms we wore in the 70's and 80's. Get it right, please.
3. The commentary needs an update, another major concern I have. I don't mind the current ones, but could you manage to update it for next year? Maybe more banter, and if you could add special commentary for Playoffs, and have them 'hype' the game a bit more. The World Series is supposed to sound special. Be nice to have better crowd reactions too, esp. during Playoffs, and the pennant race. I want to hear the crowd roaring like mad during playoffs and important games.
4. Could you make the player photos a little nicer next year too? (see previous post above)
5. Mascots! I liked seeing the Mascots in WSB. Steal that idea, I won't snitch.
6. I'd like the game to remember how my settings are set, so I don't have to adjust them every game.
7.Broken bats, and Hard hit Ball Covers coming undone would also be a nice idea.
8. Managers/Coaches Is there any way you can get permission to include the actual team managers, and their names and likeness? And Hire/Fire/Create/Name them? Even if you have to give them fake names, that's cool, as long as we can change them. Also be a decent Idea to be able to manually get them up in the umps face/ and tossed/ and suspended!
9. Addition of a Better Create a Player screen, so you can alter their looks, face, etc, while actualling seeing it change, ala TP series.
Well, that's all I've got right now. I'm sure some of it's been said before, but it bears repeating.
And all that as well!Originally posted by Dubeau

I just want everything they took out before ...
and this might be a little bit mroe work ..
I want, no scratch that, I need all new sounds and announcers. The sound is just horrible with the skipping and low quality. I find myself listening to the radio while I play instead of the sound of the game.
Come visit OT WORLD
Finally a message board where anything goes ... along with civilized conversation!
With my feet upon the ground I move myself between the sounds and open wide to suck it in.
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out. I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
What ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Tool - Lateralus
the one thing i would like to see is differant fielding pct's for each position for each player!
This may have been posted before, I really have not gone through this portion of the message board, but I would love to see some kind of warning that if you visit a pitcher on the mound, you're going to have to replace him. (I.E., it's your second trip of the inning and he has to come out).
When you have that occasional inning that just won't end, sometimes the announcer will say "He really has to go out and talk to his pitcher", so you do and he has to come out, when for a variety of reasons, you'd rather see him stay in.
Maybe an option warning you that this is your second trip of the inning would work.
I agree completely with this.Originally posted by ezorn33

Season Improvements
The best way to accomplish a real season feel would be:
-have the commentators mention player streaks
-how a team is doing in the particular month
-sometime during the game let the audience know who the home teams future opponents are.
-If a certain player has been hot, show his #'s from the last week of games, and have the commentator mention it.
-During the games, maybe have a signature sound or beep then show a lil ticker of scores from around the league.
-Player awards: Player of the week. Players of the Month. Cy Young Winners. League MVP. Golden Gloves. (try to get the official license on these awards if possible, if not, just call them something else and give us the option to edit the name of the award)
-MLB History Almanac with all previous season award winners, and a record book.
-When im looking at player stats, i want to see my team and players highlighted, especially when your scrolling down a list with fifty names, it becomes a tedious chore to find your player or team
Graphic Improvements
-Beautify the stadiums, and emulate them to there real life counterpart as much as possible. I cant empasize enough, how cool it is, to be looking forward to playing an away game against the angels, just because of how awesome there stadium looks. it adds alot of variety to the game, like im actually traveling to that particular place and city.**Most important**
-Add some more camera views to when a players hits a HR. (IE: the camera view of the player watching the homerun)
-Lets see the crowd do the wave.
-Broken bat animation (this happens way to often in baseball to not have it in a 2005 video/pc game)
-Lets see the homeplate umpire swing his arms to signify a strike out or a called strike every once in a while.
-Batting stances, implement as much of these as possible, its alot of fun to see different players and how they prepare to hit the ball. (IE: garciaparra always pulling up on his batting gloves)
-Animation is probably the biggest thing you should focus on. Bringing the players to life, by overflowing the game with various player animations.
sounds/dynamic crowd
Do something no other video game sport franchise has done, make it feel like the game is actually being watched by [insert sport here] fanatics.
-If a players been struggling, after signing a huge contract, i want to hear some boo's when he walks up to the plate.
-Mets fans hate armando benitez, so the fans in the game should hate him to. (that go's for other players not liked by fans)
-I hit a fly ball that is a potential home run, i want to hear the crowd roar, then a "awwww" when the ball is caught at the wall.(same thing if the ball is heading for the fence but potential foul ball)
-Its the 9th inning, the closers in, 3 outs away from a victory in a close game, i want the crowd to be on there feet screaming/cheering like crazy.
-Im in a home game, im getting slaughtered, i want to see my fans leave the park. Vice Versa
-How about outfielders tossing 3rd out balls into the stands.
-the crowd wears the color of your home team. (that would be cool to see that in the game)
You guys are pro's, you guys do a great job already, and thanks for a great game, im really enjoying this years installment of hh.
Keep up the good work, and if possible i'd like to see a few of my wishes implemented into next years version.
-I also would like them to redo their sounds (I mean new crowd sounds at least) and sounds AI. After 4-5 years these sounds are really tame...for not saying another word.
-The game also need a reaching the ball animation for infeilders and outfeilders, so that the ball doesn't appear magically in the feilder hands when it's 3-4 feets away.

Most of what I would add are the things you took out. And after playing the game some these are not things "I would like to see" they are things that must be there or I'll never buy the game again. I have played every version since HH99 but if you screw it up like this again I will boycot 3DO forever.
1. Mouse support
2. Sensible menues, through HH2K3 they were fine. When you went into lineups menue you could see all of the players and decide what changes to make without endlessly going back and forth. Same with the rotation menue.
3. Bar ratings or some other graphical representation of pitch strengths.
4. All stats shown in league leaders as befor. Again, this having to go back and forth repeatedly is rediculous.
Again these things are not "adding" anything they are just putting back what you took out and making the game where you can reasonably manage a team in career/franchise mode.
One thing i would like them to add is a trade waiver list for each team. Just like it was in Hardball, you can place names there where teams would make you offers based on those players, in addition of offers from your standard roster. It a way to let the other teams know that this player is on the market. Like sending a fax to every GM.

Real catcher and 1st base mitts.
Catcher taking off his mask on pop ups, and meetings at the mound. While I'm on that topic, how about some actual discussion on the mound...even just a text box...anyone remember Earl Weaver Baseball![]()
