April 1st:Opening day-New York Yankees vs. Baltimore Orioles

Well, the Yankees showed very good effort as they defeated the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards in the first game of the season for both teams. In the first two innings, it looked to be all Yankees, as they scored seven runs. They had home runs in those two innings by Jorge Posada, Rondell White, and Alfonso Soriano. Jason Giambi went 1 for 3 with two walks, one RBI that came on a base hit on his Yankees debut. In the later innings, Baltimore showed outstanding effort with a big threat in the ninth inning. That threat ended when Jeff Conine flew out to Rondell White. Both these teams showed that they are ready for the season.

Rondell White continued to be the Yankees unexpected powerhouse, as they defeated the Orioles 36-2. White went 6 for 8 with three homers, a double, and two singles. He also had seven RBI's. Jason Giambi had a very good game, also. He also went 6 for eight with three homers, and three singles. Giambi had 8 RBI's on the day. The Orioles pitching was a disaster, while the Yankee's pitching was quite satisfactory. Mike Mussina was perfect through 4 2/3 innings. Overall, he pitched 7 1/3 innings. The Yankees look like the team to beat this season.

I just figured out why I won by so much, it was because I forgot to set my difficulty level to All Star! D'oh!

David Wells, as a Yankee again, pitched a great game! He pitched 61/3 innings, allowing 5 runs. The Yankees completed the sweep of the Orioles as they won today, 18-10. Homering again was Rondell White. He hit his 6th of the year in the top of the third, only to go back to back with Jason Giambi, who hit another home run the next time up. Giambi hit two home runs today, and now has five on the season. Also performing well was Shane Spencer, who went 4 for 5, and had 3 RBI's.
