NPB: Kleenex Stadium Miyagi

Rate this Entry
The Rakuten Golden Eagles recently announced that their stadium will now be called Kleenex Stadium Miyagi (or K-Sta for those too lazy to say the whole thing).

Kleenex?

Doesn't really do anything for me. All it does is conjure up used pieces of Kleenex all over the floor.

And maybe it's just me, but when the last thing I think of when I hear the word Kleenex is a strong team. But then what's in a name... Right?

As for the 3 colors used in the logo:
  • Blue = Kleenex Blue
  • Red = Rakuten Golden Eagles Red
  • Green = Symbolic of all the nature in Miyagi

For better or worse, the stadium will retain the name for the next 3 seasons (technically, up until December 31, 2010).

Incidentally, I just picked up a copy of the Golden Eagles mini schedule and will scan and upload the images for everyone to see a little later.

(or K-Sta for those too lazy to say the whole thing).
Or prefer a less ridiculous name.

If Rakuten is smart, they'll try to use the whole K concept to push Tanaka and his strikeouts. But that will only work if he can continue to rack up the Ks (2007: 196 in 186.1 IP).

    heh...

First learn stand, then learn fly. Nature rule, Daniel-san, not mine.
