  1. All's Quiet on the Metsern Front

So far, little has happened in Metsville this off season.

After a horribly disappointing season to everything but the Failpon's wallets (team wise, not Madoff wise), the Mets have not really been players in winter activities, sticking to the resigning of cement shoes Alex Cora and signing Japanese reliever Ryota Igarashi while consistently being in the midst of rumors for just about every catcher that's available and for outfielders Jason Bay and Matt Holliday.

    For most

  2. 10 Out; Season Officially Over

Flushing most recent version of a baseball club reached the 10 games out of first mark last night, the first time they've been this far out since the 2004 season and all but guaranteeing they have no hand in the out come of the NL East beyond trying to be spoiler for the Philadelphia Phillies. That would take some actual offensive effort, however, so don't expect the Mets to be any kind of factor from here until the merciful end of the 2009 season, which has been more ballstastic than any I've seen ...

It's All Star time, folks, and that means it's time for Omar's boys to take a much needed rest. At least, the guys who are still on the roster, struggling to that sub-.500 finish that's all but inevitable by now. For the guys like Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes, and Carlos Beltran, all I can say is, enjoy rehabbing those legs at Club Med, cause there's little doubt you're already there having fun with your millions while Mets fans pound their faces into the cement around Citi Field on a nightly basis. ...

  4. Ollie's Back.......Kinda

Wednesday night marked the return of the Mets $36M albatross, one Oliver Perez, lefthand pitcher. And while it was a welcome sight seeing one of the team's army worth of players come off the disabled list, I wouldn't say it was a total victory he got back on the mound just yet.

Despite the team taking down the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4, not much was great about Ollie's performance. The Mexican southpaw gave out 7 walks over 5 innings of work with just two strikeouts, showing not ...

  5. Ollie's Back on Wednesday

The Mets are saying Ollie Perez is set to be activated and start this Wednesday at Citi Field vs the Los Angeles Dodgers, making for his first start since he went down with a knee injury back in early May.

Despite not throwing all that many innings in his rehab and not looking all that terrific in his last start (3 earned allowed in 5+ innings), the team's rushing him back, mostly out of desperation and his wanting to get back to the Bigs (probably because he misses all that great ...
