The Minaya Manifesto

The Minaya Manifesto is a place for the ramblings of two fans that happen to root for teams that, for better or for worse, once were/currently are led by the mighty Omar Minaya, general manager extraordinaire.

  1. Strasburg, Boras Considering Japan?

Dave Sheinin has a piece in the Washington Post this morning about the possibility of Boras using Japan as a way around the draft rules for Strasburg. I addition to a look at residency rules, Sheinin talks with Itaru Kobayashi who works in the front office for the Hawks:

"This will do more harm than good to the NPB club. [Strasburg] will not be welcomed, neither by the teammates or the media," Kobayashi said. "It is not easy to sympathize with a guy who comes to Japan

  2. Stephen Strasburg Watch: 15 K's in first loss of the season

Stephen Strasburg gave up a run each in the first two innings before dominating ACC tournament champion Virginia through the middle innings. Unfortunately for San Diego State, their bats would be held in check for much of the game by UVA starter Robert Morey and they lost the opening game of the Irvine Regional.

The Cavaliers came into the game with the 6th-best RPI in Division I baseball so many wondered how Strasburg would fare facing his toughest competition of the season. After ...
  3. Stephen Strasburg Watch: Six Strikeouts in MWC Tournament Victory

Stephen Strasburg picked up his 13th win of the season in today's Mountain West Conference tournament game against New Mexico. Strasburg worked 7.2 innings of shutout ball, allowing the Lobos three hits and a walk while striking out six in the Aztecs' 2-1 win.

Tony Gwynn lifted Strasburg with two outs in the eighth inning after he walked Adam Courcha. He apparently had a cramp in his lower back. Addison Reed came on and pitched the final 1.1 innings to pick up his 18th save of the ...

  4. Stephen Strasburg Watch: 10 K's In Final Regular Season Start (5/14)

In his final regular season appearance, Stephen Strasburg won his 12th game of the season against no losses in San Diego State's 11-2 win over Utah. He got off to a bit of a rocky start by walking the Utes' lead-off batter, Corey Shimada to start the first inning. Shimada scored on a one-out triple by Nick Kuroczko, who was plated himself on a C.J. Cron single.

That would be the end of the scoring for Utah though as Strasburg blanked the Utes over his final six innings of work. For ...
  5. Stephen Strasburg No-Hits Air Force

Thanks to San Diego State's stream of tonight's game, I was lucky enough to watch Stephen Strasburg's no-hitter versus the Air Force Academy. It was his first collegiate no-hitter, and it came in his final regular season home game before a stadium record 3,337 fans.

Strasburg ended the game in style by striking out the side in the ninth inning to give him seventeen on the night. The only two Falcons to reach base were on walks to start the fourth and sixth innings. The win moved ...
