According to a recent article published on the Official Nippon Professional Baseball League web site, teams spend an estimated 1-oku yen collectively each season on cleaning bills.  That's roughly $1M dollars a year.

There were plans at one point to create a laundry service for the league, but those plans were abandoned when it was realized that it wouldn't necessarily help lower costs.
