The SimCentral Networks originally started out as a small, one-man, baseball gaming operation called Baseball Sim Central. And it all began in a one-bedroom apartment in upstate New York, sometime around December of 1997.
You know, 1997... Back when people actually had to connect to the Internet using a 56K modem and could get kicked off if some one in the house "accidentally" picked up the line while the computer was happily chugging away, draining precious packets of info to and from that Pentium-powered Windows95 computer. Yeah, that 1997.
It was also the year that:
Bill Clinton began his second term in office. The Simpson became the longest running animated series on TV, surpassing the Flintstones. Scientists in Scotland revealed that they successfully cloned a sheep called Dolly. Heaven's Gate. Tony Blair became PM. IBM's Deep Blue beat Garry Kasparov. The UK handed sovereignty of Hong Kong to the People's Republic of China. Princess Diana died in a car accident.
But I digress...
This site has been through, and seen, a lot over the last 10+ years -- from the end of the Hardball series, to the very beginning of Out of the Park Baseball; from the end of the Front Page Sports Baseball series, to the beginning of the Baseball Mogul series; and from the end of the High Heat series, to the beginning of the MVP Baseball series (and it's unfortunate end). And hopefully we'll be around to witness many more things in the many years to come.
...Of course, none of this would have happened if it weren't for all the great supporters throughout the years. Without YOU, there would have been no Baseball Sim Central, let alone a SimCentral.
It is with this humble heart that I extend my gratitude to all of you who have visited this site -- for those of you who have been here from day 1, to those of you who have just started dropping by -- each and every one of you is an important cog that keeps this place going.
Here's my thanks, to you.
